DECODE

Direct Coherent Detection Optical Transceiver
IMDD DSP

Phanofi's patented photonic detector reads the full detail of a light signal - intensity, phase, and polarization, directly as it arrives. The output interfaces to standard data-processing electronics already deployed across the industry.

The Technology

A chipset combining photonic and electronic functions that encodes and decodes data across all three dimensions of light, while interfacing to standard electronics on both ends. The result is coherent capacity at intensity modulation simplicity.

The Technology

A set of three chips working together: one chip generates the optical signal, a second chip receives and reads that signal directly, and a third chip converts the output into a standard format so it works smoothly with the processing equipment already used across the industry.

How It Comes Together

The chipset is fabricated across multiple foundry partners in Europe and Asia, using established photonic and electronic manufacturing processes. The bare chips are packaged onto high-speed circuit boards by European packaging partners, with Phanofi designing the circuit boards and module housings in-house for system-level testing.

Differentiation

Accesses all three dimensions of light without the power-hungry processor and reference laser that coherent systems require, dramatically reducing cost, energy, and size.

Interfaces directly to standard data-processing electronics already used in data centers, requiring no changes to existing infrastructure.

Validated at industry-standard data rates, confirming a path to 400 gigabits per second per laser.

Our Vision

Our Vision

Coherent-level bandwidth is coming to the data center. The question is how. DECODE's photonic engine is designed as a drop-in upgrade to existing infrastructure — operators get more bandwidth per connection without redesigning their networks or replacing their electronics. The project is now moving from validated components toward a fully integrated system, building the evidence needed to bring the technology to market by October 2027.
